Good Teacher
G1320 – Didaskalos (instructor) from G1321 Didasko (verb - to learn or teach)
Did Jesus claim to be God or refer to himself as God? We can easily answer the question by reading the words that are attributed to him in Matthew 19:17, Mark 10:18 or Luke chapter eighteen…
Luke 18:18 And a certain ruler came and said to him, “good teacher, what shall I do to have everlasting life?”
The man called Yehoshua ‘good master/teacher’ and proceeded to ask him a theological question regarding the afterlife.
19 So יהושע said to him, “Why do you call me good?”
Before answering the man’s question; Yehoshua responded with a question of his own in order to ensure that the man knew that what he was ‘teaching’ was not from himself. His response was designed to let the man know that he was only the bearer of the words and that he was not the author of them…
No one is good except one – Elohim (G2316 Theos).
Yehoshua then stated that the credit and esteem of the ‘good’ teachings belonged to the Creator.
With this response Yehoshua made it perfectly clear that he was not the Creator.
He then proceeded to answer the man’s question by citing the five commands that demonstrate ‘Love your neighbor as yourself’…
20 You know the commands, “Do not commit adultery, Do not murder, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Respect your father and your mother.”
21 And he said, “All these I have watched over from my youth.”
22 And hearing this יהושע (Yehoshua/Joshua/Jesus) said to him, “Yet one do you lack: sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven. And come, follow me.”
23 But when he heard this, he became intensely sad, for he was extremely rich.
The moral of the account is ‘If you desire your earthly treasures more than you desire to do good (heavenly treasures); you are storing your treasures on the earth’ and as the old adage goes… ‘You can’t take it with you!’.
It is important that you keep his/these words in mind when reading/examining any accounts in the ‘New Testament’ where Yehoshua or a writer relates him(self) with the Father; and when he is associated with…
‘Teacher, Rabbi or master’ (didaskalos/rabbi/epistates)
‘Prophet’
‘Christ/Messiah/Anointed (Christos)
‘Son of man’ (uihos anthropos)
‘Son of God’ (uihos Theos).
Praying to the Father – example Mark 1:35 and in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
His dying words ‘Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? ‘My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
‘אלי אלי למה עזבתני’
And any other account that demonstrates the relationship Yehoshua has with the Creator יהוה.
All of the material on this site is the product of my twenty-five years of research and study in the fields of Middle Eastern history, archeology (focusing on the Levant), biblical theology, (the study of the Christian, Judaic and Islamic religions), linguistics (I have studied the Hebrew and Greek languages in order to gain the original writers perspectives). I have personal experience with the following faiths: Southern Baptist, WWCG, CGI, Messianic Judaism and Judaism I lived in a torah based monotheist community based on humanist teachings and values for several years. I have been writing studies/articles and parables since the early 2000s. I published many of my works on the www.YHWHisEl.com site at that time; with a focus on monotheism and the non deity of Jesus (Yehoshua).
After identifying many peculiarities in the TaNaKh while teaching, I tasked myself with determining the source of the inconsistencies. I began my search in the first five books of the bible. I read through them many times, locating inconsistencies and attempting to find the golden key that would unlock them. I read many articles, publications and books in which the authors attempted to explain the irregularities (most based on a version of the JDEP theory) and I tested each against the inconsistencies and all of them failed to provide a viable answer.
I then used critical thinking and tested potential theories until I finally found the solution that solved every problematic area. The Free thinkers guide to the Bible is the culmination of this process.
